Gemma and Cady must continue on with their lives after their horrific experience with M3GAN, an artificially intelligent doll. Gemma has begun to work as an advocate for government oversight of AI projects. But when she learns that the military is developing a new doll for espionage purposes, she is terrified of the consequences. AMELIA, the new doll, begins to develop its own ideas about what to do, and Gemma decides to bring back M3GAN to help her in her new fight.
