In 1990s Iraq, Lamia is a poor nine-year-old girl living with her grandmother Bibi and beset with the unique task of baking a birthday cake for the country’s leader, Saddam Hussein. Given the shopping list of sugar, flour, eggs, and baking powder, she travels to a nearby city to find the ingredients. But Lamia struggles with her task as a series of unexpected obstacles stand in her way.
