The war for Cybertron — and control of the Allspark — has moved to Earth and its Moon where the Autobots and Decepticons continue their eons-long struggle. After a Decepticon defeat on the Moon, Starscream attempts a coup against Megatron, fails, and is left on the moon, seemingly deactivated.
