Victor Scott is a combative district attorney who unknowingly sends an innocent man to his death. When he learns of his mistake, he falls into a deep depression and alcoholism. Resigning from his former position, Scott ends up working for local crime boss Frank Garland, where he must face the office that he used to run and defend the man he used to oppose.
